Common envelope sizes
- DL (110 x 220mm): takes an A4 sheet folded in three, or a DL compliment slip.
- C5 (162 x 229mm): takes an A4 sheet folded once, or A5 flat.
- C4 (229 x 324mm): takes A4 flat – good for contracts, certificates and brochures.
Window and plain-face envelopes, and self-seal or gummed closures, can be specified on the product page or in a quote.
Design considerations
Envelopes are printed after they are made, so there are limits to how close to the edge and seams the print can go. Most envelope designs are a logo and return address in the top left or on the flap, and that works best. Full-bleed envelope designs need a quote.
Keep the address area clear and leave the top right corner free if anything will be posted.
Pricing and lead times
Standard printed envelope options show prices online. Custom sizes, colours and full-cover designs are quoted. Lead times follow the usual tiers where the product allows, but envelopes need careful drying, so Standard or Economy is advised for large runs.
Match your stationery
Envelopes complete a set with letterheads and compliment slips. For events, pair C5 or DL envelopes with invitations. Browse business stationery.
When printed envelopes are worth it
If you post or hand-deliver statements, invoices, payslips, school reports or contracts, branded envelopes help them get opened rather than set aside. For invitations and certificates, a C5 or C4 envelope keeps the contents flat and looking good. For occasional use, a simple printed return address is usually enough.
